Retail execution KPIs that lead to useful decisions
A KPI becomes useful when its definition is clear, the evidence is consistent, and someone owns the follow-up. Agree those conditions before fieldwork starts.
Separate activity from execution
A completed visit describes activity. Product availability, planogram compliance, correct pricing, and promotional execution describe the state of the store. Review both rather than treating a visit count as proof of shelf quality.
Define the denominator
For each indicator, specify the eligible stores, products, tasks, and reporting period. Document how unavailable products, store closures, and incomplete evidence are treated so reports remain comparable.
Connect exceptions with evidence
Attach the relevant store, task, and photo requirements to an issue. An out-of-stock flag should identify what is missing and who will follow up; reporting a gap is not the same as replenishing stock.
Make the report actionable
Use the agreed KPI set to prioritize supervisor follow-up and the next visit. Display Max’s reporting scope can include visits, tasks, availability, prices, photos, promotions, route completion, and store-level results.
